I feel like the school systems need to be revised. They base too much off of homework. If you know the material and can prove it why is homework necessary? And class participation. People don’t always feel comfortable especially when working with others they don’t know. High school is a very judgemental place and some people just prefer to work alone. I feel like they should focus less on teaching stuff people won’t use, and provide more of a sampling of careers to figure out what path students want to go on and help them achieve that. One class that should be there no matter what is history though. That is the one class I support so people can learn from mistakes others have made and can live on and try to avoid more situations like that. But others shouldn’t be mandatory after a certain point. Unless you are an engineer or such all you need is simple math. Depending on the career you may or may not need to learn how to write essays, or give speeches. Things are all different depending on the career, and instead of focusing on the future they focus on the tests. Someone like me needed more guidance to help choose a career and was instead pushed into a crowd of faceless names that were in a certain percentile saying they will not make it here, here, or here. When in reality it was that I was confused and lost as to what I wanted to do and achieve, and that I could learn the information with out doing some meaningless tasks to show furthermore that I understood the information given. This is what I think though.
